Halal for Moslems is like Kosher for Jews.  Animals are killed in strict accordance with the Koran (Islamic "Bible").  One day I was riding with a Kuwaiti co-worker and he stopped to buy some chicken to be cooked for dinner.  The chicken are purchased live.  The butcher then faces east toward Mecca, prays, and kills the chicken.
